Former Backpage Executive Dies Days Before Retrial
(Superior, Arizona) - Former Backpage.com executive James Larkin, a co-defendant in the ongoing Backpage case due to be retried this month after a 2021 mistrial, died by suicide Monday. The 74-year-old Larkin died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Backpage, that was dominated by advertisements for adult services. According to the indictment, Backpage made $112 million in 2013 and more than $134 million in 2014.
